Induction Cooktops

The SS 2200 W infrared cooktop — feather touch controls, a 4 hour smart timer, auto cut-off and overheat protection, and it works with every pan in the kitchen.

An infrared cooktop heats the base of the pan through a radiant element rather than an induction coil, which means one very practical difference: it works with all cookware — stainless steel, iron and aluminium alike — so nothing in the kitchen has to be replaced to use it.

The SS cooktop runs at 2200 W, controlled by a feather touch panel with a digital display, and protects itself with auto cut-off and overheat protection. A 4 hour smart timer covers slow cooking without anyone standing over it, and sturdy stainless steel handles make a hot unit safe to move once it is off.

Infrared or induction?

An induction hob only works with magnetic cookware — put an aluminium or a copper-bottomed pan on it and nothing happens. An infrared cooktop heats the surface itself, so the pan material is irrelevant and the kadhai, the pressure cooker and the aluminium tope all work as they are. The trade-off is that the glass surface stays hot for a while after cooking, which is why the unit has overheat protection and handles.

Looking after the surface

Let the glass cool, then wipe it with a damp cloth — no scouring pad, no abrasive powder. Wipe spills as soon as the surface is cool rather than letting them bake on, and keep the base of the pan dry before you set it down.
